The Dark Knight!

Tyler and I went to go see the much anticipated Dark Knight with Mike and Tamara. Tyler was so excited for this movie! I wasn't a huge fan of Batman Begin's, although that could be because we have watched it over 20 time, so I wasn't that excited for this new Batman movie. I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed it. If I would have know that it was a 3 hour movie I think I might have drank so much Diet Coke. I really, really needed to use the bathroom about half way through but I wasn't going to miss a second of the movie that we paid $10 to get into. So toward the end I was having a really hard time focusing on movie.

Afterward we all went to PF Changs and enjoyed an excellent dinner! Mike and Tamara are some of our favorite people. They are friends for life. Thanks for dinner and a great night!

Missing the 24th of July

So I got a call from my Mom today wishing me a Happy 24th of July. The bad news was I was driving into work. I totally forgot about the holiday since I haven't lived in UT for over 4 years now. My Mom told me all the fun things they are planning and how everyone has work OFF. I am now sitting in my cube wishing I lived in UT so I can have today off! My employer gives no state holiday's.

I have made a list of things I would be doing today if I had the day off for this holiday

Eating watermelon

Preparing food the evenings BBQ

Laying out

Swimming

Boating

Sleeping in

Watching the parade

Going to a carnival or rodeo

Watching fireworks

Eating everything!

. . . . and NOT WORKING!

I need to convince mu husband to move back to the blessed state of UT so I can have an extra holiday off work. I hope all you Utahan's out there are having a great day off!

Lebron James at Nike Thirst Thursday!

So as most of you know I work at Nike at their main headquarter in Portland. In the summer time Nike puts on summer events every Thursday. The majority of the people leave their cubes and enjoy the out doors and activities. It actually reminds me of a college campus. Well yesterday Lebron James came to Nike to do a press release and they had him as the main event. Events like these are some of the few perks for working at Nike. In the middle of campus they had a put down a hard wood basketball court (when Nike does an event they don't go half way. Everything is over the top) so they could have some games going on and Lebron could show off some of his dunks! There was food, diet coke, music, and famous athlete's what more could you ask for! I was about 15-20 feet from Lebron so I took a few pics. Most of them didn't come out too well. Oh well it was still pretty cool to see. He has a pretty fun sense of humor. He had a micro phone on and he was cracking jokes most of the time.
The girl in the yellow dress in the first picture is the starting point guard for Stanford University. She is interning at Nike this summer.

Memory of Mallory Parsons

Ty just got home from work with tears in his eyes telling me that one of my Young Women past away today. She was on a family vacation in Bear Lake and she drowned. She was 14 so she wasn't in my Laurel class so I didn't know her well but she was a very, very sweet girl. She was a girl everyone liked and liked to be around. She was a talented dancer and loved it! I feel horrible for her family. I can't image having to bury a child, your 14 year old child. How do you comfort someone how has just lost their child? I feel numb inside. It is a comfort to know that because of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who broke the band of death that Mallory lives on. The Lord has a perfect plan but sometimes it hard to understand and/or accept. I guess that's where faith comes into play. It really makes you appreciate the blessings in your life and makes you assess and take inventory of your life to eliminate the unneeded and unimportant things and really focus on what's important.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Parson's family. May the Lord bless you.

Happy Birthday Michelle!

Today is Michelle's birthday! Michelle is one of my favorite people. We work together at Nike and she makes work so much better! Without her I am not sure I would last the week! We went to lunch today at a new place (new to us) called Mingo's. We should have known not to go since it was new to us but we went anyway. It was a cool enviroment but the food and service was bad! I felt bad because it was her birthday and you wish things would be perfect for her. I guess we tried, right? I forgot to have the waiter take a picture of us but I was side tracked by his smugness so I am posting a picture of my team at work at another lunch we had a little while ago. The ladies that I work with are too beautiful not to post a picture of! Happy Birthday Michelle! I hope Rick planned something great for tonight!

The Monson's and Cafe Rio!

We were fortunate to get able to meet up with the Monson's over the 4th. They live in Tucson, AZ and we haven't seen them in over 2 years. They are truly some of our most favorite people! We met at my favorite restaurant in UT - Cafe Rio. Baja Fresh in Portland just doesn't compare. Later we went to a park to let their daughter, Thais, play. Although, I think Tyler played more then Thais. They have the cutest daughter ever and a little baby boy on the way! Monson's we love you guys and are so happy we were able to meet up! It needs to be for a longer duration next time.

Us at Cafe Rio after I just devoured a delectable pork burrito!

4th of July in Utah

Ty and I took a very quick trip to UT for the 4th of July - 2.5 days actually in UT and 2 days in the car - UGH! We haven't driven it since we moved to Portland becuase flying has usually been cheaper. Although, this time airline tickets were $400 per person!! Since I am the cheapest person a live I refused to pay $800 for a quick trip. So we decided to drive, which was considerable cheaper but by no means cheap. Oh well we had a great time. The car ride was pretty long. I'm not sure when we will be driving it again. Hopefully the airline tickets will come down in price. At anyrate, we were able to meet up with some good friends of ours and spead some much needed time with family.

We Just Celebrated 5 years!!

This isn't a good picture but Ty took me to Portland City Grill for our 5th year anniversary. This is one of my favorite restaurants. It's on the 30th floor of the USB tower and it over looks downtown Portland. We have also booked a trip to Hawaii for next month! We can't wait!!
I am so blessed to be able to have married my best friend. Ty is the sweetest, kindest person I know and probably the only one that can handle my craziness every single day! I love you Ty and I am honored to be your wife.

Pen and Julie

I must say that I have the best in-laws ever! Pen and Julie took my parents and I up to their builiding site for their new house in Eden, UT and then to lunch. Tyler's family lives all over the country so Pen and Julie are building a house that we can all stay together during family get togethers. We cant' wait for it to be finished so we can meet all together again. We love you guys!

Lunch with Karlin, Averee, and Weston!

I also met up with Karlin for lunch and her 2 cute kids! It was really good to see Karlin again. We were good friends in high school and even moved to Provo together and lived in the same apartment complex. It as been about 7-8 years since I last saw her. She is doing great and is a super mom.
We took a quick shopping trip after lunch and I was trying entertain Averee by taking her picture. She is such a sweet adorablt girl!

Lunch with Krista!

While I was in Utah I was able to meet up with my very good friend Krista and her adorable girls Anna and Sara. We once worked together and became good friends. We ate at Pizza Factory and I forgot how much I missed the yummy bread sticks!
