Favorite Part of My Day!!

So as most of you know Ty & I were just able to adopt the most beautiful girl in world, Rilynne. I am a busy body type of person. I love to get things done and check them off my list. With Rilynne here I have had to really slow down, which is good. It allows me to enjoy her. Yesterday was kind of a hard day for her, she was so tired but only wanted to sleep in my arms. This is sometimes hard, considering I had some things that needed to get done yesterday. So I broke out the moby wrap and packed her around all day yesterday. I was able to get everything done and still had dinner on table when Ty came home - Yea! In the process I felt like I really bonded wit Rilynne yesterday. Today was another day she wanted to be held but today I didn't have as much to do so I was able to lay her on my chest and hold her for a couple of hours. I LOVED IT!!! She makes the cutest faces while she is sleeping. Her yawn is super cute and when she wakes up she just stares at me like she knows me. I kept asking myself - why us? How did we get so lucky as to be able to be her parents and raise her? She is an amazing little girl. She is growing and doing new things everyday and I love to watch her grow. I don't even mind getting up with her at 3 AM, although I am missing my sleep.
I love you Rilynne and am eternally grateful you have joined our family. You've changed my life in a way I never thought possible.

2 Week Check Up

We had Rilynne's 2 week check up on Tuesday. She is such a trooper. She got her second PKU and her Hep B shot. The first prick for the PKU the nurse couldn't get enough blood so she had to prick her again and then couldn't get her foot to stop bleeding. Rilynne did cry but not too bad. All in all it went better then I had anticipated. Her stats are 9.12 lbs and 22.5 inches long. At that point she was 16 days old and had put on 1.2 lbs and has grown an inch! All the nurses couldn't believe it. I can feel it . . . my girl is going to be an athlete! :) Ty is already planning her future and all of her teams his is going to coach.
Rilynne is such a gem and I am so grateful she is healthy and strong!

Newborn Photos of Rilynne

Our very sweet friend Jenni Price came over and took newborn photos of Rilynne about a week ago. Jenni is so talented! The photos turned out amazing. She captured Rilynne perfectly. Rilynne was so good for her. She only fussed maybe twice. Here is the link to Jenni's blog where she has posted a sample of photos. They just turned out so great! I continue to gush over my little girl! Thanks Jenni for coming over and taking pic of Rilynne. You are truly talented!

SURPRISE!!!

Ty threw me a surprise birthday party for my big 30th! I was totally surprised. No idea that he had been planning it. He enlisted all my girlfriends to help pull it off. They did a New York themed party because Ty gave me a girls trip to New York with my sister-in-law Sharri. I have been to New York several times but never into the city and I've always wanted to go. So Ty worked it out with Sharri, who lives in VA, to spend a long weekend with her. I was so surprised and so excited! Although now that Rilynne is here we will probably be going in a year but I don't care, a NY trip is planned!

We are grateful that Mom & Dad were able to make it out. First birthday we have been together in 5 years.

Here are all the girls. They made NY cupcakes, hot dogs, chili, pretzels, and cheesecake

Grandpa, Grandma, and Little Rilynne!

My Mom & Dad come into town to visit and to help us out with Rilynne. We video taped them walking into the door and seeing Rilynne for the first time. It was so cute! They were so excited. They could stop saying how beautiful Rilynne is. She makes the 18th grandchild on my side and
the 14th on Ty's side. We are having such a good time with them this week. We are so happy they decided to come and stay.

Welcome HOME Rilynne

On the 14th we were finally able to come home. Shera Lynn, Cassidy, and Shanan gave us a warm welcome by decorating our entry way of our house with cute girl stuff. It was so cute! A big thanks to them for making Rilynne feel so welcome.
I was a bit nervous to take Rilynne on an airplane when she was only 5 days old but she did well. She only cried a few time during take off and when she was hungry. The down side is that she caught a bit of a cold, although it has already cleared up. We took her to a dr. appt to have her checked out after riding the plane and the docter told us that she is a very healthy baby!

She did really good at the airport and on the plane. She slept most of the time and only cried 2-3 times. She did start to wail when she woke up when we were deplaning. She was hungery and won't stop crying until she got her bottle! She was such a trooper. We took her to the doctor's the day after we got home and the doctor said she picked up a bit of a cold. When he told me that I almost started crying. My little girl has a cold and she is only 5 days old! It was so sad. Luckily she is almost better now.
This is Rilynne taking a nap in the Denver airport.
Thanks to Auntie Tamara, who brought us home airport.

At the Hotel with Rilynne

We are staying at a nice hotel but would really like to go home to Portland. I think we would all do better with a bit more space. We are staying in a 1 bedroom suite with a full kitchen so we really do have a nice set up but can't wait to get back home. Here are a few pics from the hotel. Our baby girl is really such a cutie! I stare and stare at her all the time and can't believe she is really my daughter. She is so perfect in every way! I just love her to pieces!

At the Hospital with Rilynne

Since Rilynne was born at 3:03 AM on Saturday we weren't there for her birth but we took the 6 AM flight from Portland to Devner. We didn't get to the hospital until noon, although we tried as hard as we could to get there ASAP. Once we got to hospital we went to the nursery and waited for the nurse to wheel in Rilynne's crib into the back room. Before she even got there Ty & I were sobbing. I can't tell you the feeling it is to meet your daughter for the first time after waiting for so long. We cried together for about 15 minutes after Rilynne was wheeled it. It was a perfect moment to the beginning of our family. My first thought of Rilynne was that she is beautiful and that she looked a lot like her birth mom. My second thought is I can't beleive she is ours. That she is my daughter and that we will be sealed for all time and eternity in the temple. My third thought was how much I love and respect her birth mom. Talk about a wonderful person, she is truly amazing!

I held Rilynne first for about 15 minutes and then Ty asked to hold her. It was hard to pass her over. Once I had her in my arms I never wanted to let her go. She was so perfect and had a head full of curly black hair. Her skin is the perfect olive color and she is one beauitful girl!

We stayed at the hospital most of Saturday and Sunday morning and then were able to bring her back to our hotel Sunday afternoon. Our hotel is nice and we have a nice set up here but I can't wait to get her back home to Portland.

Welcome Rilynne Rose!

As most of you are aware, Ty & I had submitted our paperwork for adoption and on January 9, 2010 our little girl was born! Little Rilynne Rose Hollist was born at 3:03 AM on Saturday January 9th. She weighed 8 lbs 10 oz and was 21.5 inches tall. She is such a beautiful baby! All the nurses in the hospital kept commenting on what a pretty baby she is and all of her hair! I want to give a special thanks to her birth mom. She is such a beautiful person. Words can't express our love and gratitude for her. She has done one of the most Christ like things I can think of and Ty and I will be forever grateful. She has given us a gift we could in no way have given ourselves. We love her and hope the best for her! Her and her family will never be forgotten in the Hollist home.
